Biography
Mihaela Erceg was born on 28.10.1997. in Split, Croatia. they started drawing comics back in highschool, where they attended comics workshops for three years under mentorship of a Croatian comics and grafitti artist Ivan SvaguĊĦa. they has a Masters degree in animation, and her graduate film, Taximeter And Mild Psychosis got a special mention by Croatian ASIFA for innovation in humor, design, and style.
they were awarded Splitski pupoljak (The Blooming Flower of Split) in 2016. an award which is given to young people in Split who make exceptional work in fields of culture and sport. In 2019. they won the first place in cartoon competition in Croatian newpapers, Jutarnji list (The Morning Papers). Furthemore, they were awarded the second award for the best original scenario by Balkanska smotra mladih strip autora (Balkan Young Comics Authors Convention).
In 2020. they did a project called 366aroundthesun where they publitheyd a drawing each day. The same year they worked for a Dalmatian news portal as a cartoonist. Onwards, they went to work as a daily cartoonist in the most read Croatian newspapers 24 Sata, marking each day with a cartoon inspired by historical events.
they also worked as the sole storyboard artist, character designer, and animator on project Princess Astra, scripted and created by Jackie Cuccaro and Jamie Holcomb, as a part of Super Moon production.
they have worked on multiple original project, including Salty Banana, a comic which they later pitched as an animated show at Cartoon Springboard - one of the biggest pitching events for young talents in Europe. The pitch was characterized as the best received and most entertaining one.
they are very active on the Croatian animation and comics scene, being one of editors in a bi-yearly comics magazine Strip PREFIX. they have had their comics publitheyd in PREFIX, OHOHO zine, StripBurger and many others.
